Smartly's Amazon DSP Tie-Up and the AI Studio Question
Providence-owned since 2019, Smartly added Amazon DSP integration in March 2026 and brought AI Studio to general availability. The interesting bit is the INCRMNTAL LOI behind the press release.
Smartly had a busier Q1 2026 than is widely understood. The Helsinki-rooted, Providence-owned ad-creative platform announced direct Amazon DSP integration in March 2026, brought its AI Studio product to general availability, opened a new hub in Mexico City, and signed a letter of intent to acquire INCRMNTAL, the Israeli incrementality-measurement vendor. Reported revenue sits at roughly $101M, which by category standards is mid-market on its way to scale rather than category-leading.
The Amazon DSP move is the most strategically sharp of the four. Most ad-tech vendors who claim “Amazon support” mean retail-search keyword management; Smartly is wiring the off-Amazon programmatic side, which is the part Amazon itself has been pushing hardest into in 2025 and 2026 as Prime Video advertising scales. Being one of the named integration partners on that side puts Smartly in a different conversation from the dozens of Shopify-era creative tools.
AI Studio’s GA is the riskier bet. The category has filled with creative-generation tools since 2023, and the differentiator can no longer be “we use generative models” — every competitor does. Smartly’s argument is that its AI sits on top of years of ad-performance data from existing customers, which is the kind of moat that takes 18 months to prove or disprove publicly. INCRMNTAL is the more interesting tell: incrementality measurement is the wedge that lets a creative platform price on outcomes rather than impressions, which would change Smartly’s gross margin profile materially if the LOI closes.
Cross-reference for the directory: Smartly is one of the few Finnish operators at $100M+ revenue not in gaming, which puts it in conversation with Wolt (now DoorDash-owned) and the deeper bench of Helsinki SaaS in the Finland cluster. The Providence ownership means there is no IPO rumour and no Series-anything talk; the trajectory is private-equity scale-and-tuck, and the INCRMNTAL LOI is the first 2026 data point on whether that strategy lands.
