Supplier Quality Engineer (Mechanical)

This role is responsible for ensuring the quality, maturity, and continuous improvement of ICEYE’s supplier base, from selection through ongoing performance management. The Supplier Quality Engineer leads supplier preselection and audits, manages technical and quality requirement flow-down, drives supplier change control and supplier part qualification activities to ensure reliable, compliant, and manufacturable products.

The position reports to the Mission Assurance & Reliability team and collaborates closely with Supply Chain, Engineering, and AIT Engineering. It plays a key role in strengthening ICEYE’s supply ecosystem by aligning supplier capabilities with design and production needs, enabling scalable and reliable manufacturing operations across all external partners.

Your day-to-day responsibilities
 
Lead supplier preselection and follow-up audits to assess capability, maturity, and compliance with ICEYE and industry standards.

Define and communicate technical and quality requirements to suppliers, ensuring full understanding and compliance throughout the supply chain.

Monitor supplier performance using defined metrics (e.g., delivery quality, NCR rates, on-time delivery, responsiveness) to identify gaps and drive improvement actions.

Manage supplier change requests, part and process approvals, and configuration control activities in coordination with the Engineering Teams and Configuration Management Team.

Lead supplier part qualification activities ensuring compliance with technical, quality, and regulatory requirements prior to production release.

Identify, assess, and proactively mitigate supplier-related risks, ensuring continuity of supply and minimizing impact to product quality and delivery.

Collaborate early with Design and AIT Engineering teams to gather manufacturability and inspectability feedback from suppliers.

Implement and track supplier improvement plans to increase supplier maturity and readiness.

Act as the primary point of contact for supplier-related quality issues, including management of non-conformances (NCs) and deviation/waiver requests, ensuring timely resolution and closure.

What we’re looking for
Must haves:

Degree in Engineering (preferably Mechanical, Mechactronics, Aerospace, or related field)

Minimum 3 years of experience in Supplier Quality, Manufacturing Quality, or similar roles.

Strong knowledge of supplier quality management for mechanical parts and assemblies (machined parts, composites, electromechanical assemblies), including supplier audits, qualification (FAI/PPAP or equivalent), and performance monitoring

Deep understanding of mechanical manufacturing processes (CNC machining, surface treatments, and assembly) and inspection/verification methodologies, with a focus on dimensional conformity, workmanship, and product reliability

Experience with non-conformance (NC) management, root cause analysis (8D, 5 Whys, Ishikawa, etc.), and CAPA implementation in mechanical manufacturing environments

Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, GD&T requirements, 3D CAD models, specifications, material standards, and manufacturing process documentation

Strong focus on traceability, configuration control, and engineering change management for mission-critical mechanical hardware and assemblies

Data-driven approach to analyzing supplier performance, quality metrics, inspection results, and continuous improvement opportunities

Strong communication and stakeholder management skills across suppliers and internal teams

Ability to influence and drive results without direct authority

Structured problem-solving and analytical thinking

High ownership with a proactive, hands-on approach

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, evolving environment

Nice to haves:

Experience evaluating and approving special processes (e.g. heat treatment, coating, NDT) and ensuring supplier compliance with applicable industry and customer requirements.

Experience with ERP and MES systems in production environments

Experience in aerospace, defense, automotive, or high-reliability manufacturing environments.

Base salary range for this position is [xxxx–xxxx local currency] per month (gross), dependant on experience, and will be negotiated individually.
