Top Denmark companies
Too Good To Go
Sells discounted "surprise bags" of unsold food from nearby bakeries, restaurants, and supermarkets. Across 17 countries it diverts millions of meals from landfill each year.
Pleo
Issues smart company cards to employees and categorizes every purchase automatically. Finance teams get real-time spend visibility and no longer chase manual expense reports.
Corti
Deploys real-time AI copilots that listen to patient-clinician conversations. They document the encounter and surface decision support across emergency dispatch, primary care, and telehealth at scale.

Denmark vs Finland
Denmark vs Finland — Indie SaaS Operators vs Mobile-First Engineers
Copenhagen ships paid B2B SaaS on next to no marketing budget. Helsinki builds globally distributed mobile products that most of the EU never notices. Same population band, two unrelated playbooks.

The two countries have nearly identical populations (~5.6M Denmark, ~5.5M Finland) yet their startup output has almost nothing in common.
Denmark’s directory is dominated by indie B2B SaaS that compounds without much noise. Pleo just printed €164M ARR with positive EBITDA. Corti runs clinical AI across a quarter-million patient interactions a day. Tiimo just won iPhone App of the Year off a $4.8M total raise. Teams stay small and revenue is real; a strong design-and-product instinct converts to paying customers without obvious paid acquisition. Capital is cautious. Exits usually come as trade sales rather than IPOs.
Finland looks the same on paper. Its output could hardly be more different. The Helsinki engineering culture came out of Nokia, then Supercell, then Wolt. The result is mobile-first, often free-to-play-monetised or transactional, and disproportionately consumed outside Europe. Smartly sells ad creative tooling primarily to US and Asian customers. Wolt sold to DoorDash for $8.1B but kept Helsinki as its product centre. Slush remains the only continental-European startup conference that consistently attracts US tier-one VCs in person. Finnish exits run larger and more often go via M&A to a US strategic.
For anyone scoping a Nordic move, the choice tracks the product. A design-led European B2B business will do better in Denmark; a team of engineers building for global mobile distribution from day one should look at Finland first. The talent pools barely overlap. A senior product designer in Copenhagen and a senior backend engineer in Helsinki came out of two different decades of national tech employment, and one cannot substitute for the other.
The Denmark and Finland hubs hold the deeper directory split.
